An author visit from N.S Blackman will inspire your pupils to read for pleasure and encourage them in their own drawing and storytelling. Nigel's talks and workshops are based around the activity sheets that accompany The Secret Dinosaur so they are perfect for enriching the dinosaur topic as well as promoting literacy and creativity. The visits are tailored to the age group of the children and Nigel brings exciting props including his dinosaur "tooth". He displays his pictures on a large whiteboard so that all the children can see how his illustrations developed alongside the story and does some on-the-spot drawing, showing the children how to draw a great T-Rex! Nigel can host workshops on creative writing, talk to a whole school assembly and visit individual classrooms. All visits involve fun dinosaur quizzes, a reading from the book and tips on how to write great stories and illustrate them. The art and literacy activity sheets which are based on the books can be used before or after a visit.. Activity sheets for use during a visit are also provided and every school also receives a beautifully illustrated Secret Dinosaur poster.
